What is Art Licensing?
Art licensing is when an artist allows a company or person to use their artwork on products, like clothing, home goods, or stationery, in exchange for payment. The artist still owns the artwork but gives permission for it to be used in specific ways, usually for a set period or for certain types of products.
Non-Exclusive vs Exclusive Terms
Non-Exclusive means the artist can license the same artwork to multiple companies at the same time. The artist keeps the right to sell or use the artwork elsewhere.
Exclusive means the artwork is licensed to only one company, and the artist can’t license or sell that artwork to anyone else during the agreement. The company has the exclusive right to use the artwork for that time or purpose.
